[OtoROCK] Lunch Box

Random people inspired by random j-rock band such as Scandal, HTT, Girls Dead Monster starring Lisa, Supercell, YUI and other popular Anime OSTs like Flame of Recca and One Piece wants to jam to share their common interest until they realized they can form a real band and “Lunch box” was born. Formed a year ago, this band consist of 6 members wants to play in Japanese music on anime and Japanese culture related convention.

[OtoBEAT] Dreamsicle

They are a power house of voices, Dreamsicle is an all-girl singing group, covering mostly songs from popular Jpop artists. This trio composed of Icel Cabarloc Ivy dela Cruz and Jazz Rosin are from different bands and decided to get together to form a singing trio last August. They recently performed this September for Asian Pop Expo.

[OtoBEAT] Pebbles Montales

An ordinary girl from Cavite, she recently moved to Manila due to work. Pebbles is the newest member of Onigiri Infusion as an additional vocalist. We can call her a pro because of the many events and competition she participated and yet again she challenge every one, holding a microphone and giving her best shot. Pebbles will sing-out-loud until she reach the top.

[OtoBEAT] Hannah Louisse

Hannah Louisse is 19 year old tourism student at Air Link International Aviation College who loves everything about Japanese culture especially the music. It has been her passion to sing Japanese songs since she was young. One of her inspiration is Ayumi Hamasaki.

This is only her second time of joining a JPOP singing contest. Her first one didn’t go well since she had a stage fright. Even though it didn’t go as she planed. She keep her experience and use it for her advantage for the next battle. Having the urge to make it right this time she will do everything to conquer her fears and win the fight.

Lyka Janine Bare is an 18 year old fan girl from Imus, Cavite and decides to step up her game. She is a girl who loves to watch J-drama , Ikuta Toma and Hey! Say! Jump! She always dream of being on stage in the future. She is a back-up singer for her church but because she never believed that her talent is enough for the stage, she decided to stay in the shadows... not until today.

Forced to join Otomonogatari's OtoBEAT Contest, she was convince that she must take one step forward for she will never know until she tries. She joined the screening and managed to pass. And now that she is in the spot light; she decides to stands on her ground, heads up and to give her best shot. But can she manage to WIN? Against HERSELF?

[OtoBEAT] C.A.S.T.

C.A.S.T is a Filipino J-Pop/J-Rock musical duo consist of Miyaka Kourai (Angel Jimenez) on vocals and OtakuRappa (Auditionking De Leon) on the rap and back vocals. C.A.S.T. was established on a singing contest last November 11, 2011. CAST is best known for their unique style with which they blend rock, rap, electronic, metal, hip hop & OPM ballad Music.

[OtoROCK] Aizou Letter

Aizou Letter, was formed early this year 2012, compose of 5 members who really loves music.
The name of the band “Aizou” derived from the Japanese word means LOVE and HATE. Then add the word “LETTER” to be more complex with their band names.

The sound of this band is not yet molded since this band just started to be active when all of its members have been completed. Despite the young age of the band, this group of young music enthusiast will rock your heads with their passionate performances and spice of funny jokes.

The name "Aizou Letter" will signify a new start not only to us but also in local music scene and they will never stop making music until they reach the peak.

Actually nag start kami ng banda hindi pa buo member ng grupo hanggan sa nakita ako ng drummer at pinilit ko sya na sumali sa gagawing kong banda. Pumayag naman taga mindanao pa sya, tapos kulang pa kami ng gitarista. Naisip ng drummer namin na meron din syang kilala na dito na sa Caloocan nagtatrabaho. Tinawagan namin sya tapos pumayag din. Buti at may nahanap kaming growler ng banda, actually rock lang talaga tugtugan namin nahirapan kami mag adjust sa slow song kasi iba iba ang genre ng mga members ng alagad ni kokey.

[OtoROCK] Shinkan

Shinkan, which literally means "new member" in Japanese, is an all-Pinoy band whose members aspire to bring the best J-music performance to the otaku community. The band started with a group of friends who share their common interests in Japanese Anime, and eventually appreciating J-pop and J-rock at their fullest.

Before Shinkan, the band was grouped under another band, Photosynthesis, within the same group of friends. In addition, the band members had their own separate exposures outside the group.

Formed in August 2011.The band had their debut at the battle of the bands for Asian Pop Expo October last year. Also, they have participated in events and productions such as Revotaku and Beyond the Music.

The drummer, Anjo, is currently working in a Japanese company and is studying Japanese language as part of his daily work. Ivory & Icel (vocalist & bassist) have basic Japanese knowledge and have been participating in Anime-related events (such as cosplays and singing contests) since 2004 Jojo & Marlo, the guitarists, have been the music expert of the group and have been a part of different bands playing various genres years before Shinkan was formed.

[OtoROCK] Renzokuken Zero

The band was made last 2008 with the aim of enjoying rock performances on any battle of the bands / gigs that may come in the way.  The band name came from the Playstation game Final Fantasy VIII where "Renzokuken" is the main character's limit break. It is derived from the combination of 3 Kanji - 連[Ren]続[Zoku]剣[Ken] meaning to slash consecutively with a sword. The reason why the band decided for such name is that majority of the members are actually gamers. The "Zero" part was just added to make it sound cool.

They had their first ever performance at Jcrunch 2009 which was held at Freedom Bar.
Since then we've been pushing through to have a chance at the rock stage. Busy because of school and work they can only afford to have 1 gig a year much better than having no gig at all!

The band's goal was initially to cover Japanese Rock music but midway we opened our doors to other genres too so that it'll help us nurture our skills as a musician.

NEON5 is a 5 piece progressive rock band based in CAVITE. The band plays cover songs mostly from anime, games, and TV shows. The band was formed on july 15 2011. Sometimes the band plays their own music, well sort of....

Formed in May 2012, Natsuyasumi is composed of Yuri on vocals, Sol on guitars, Henry on guitars, Ivan on bass, Joseph on keyboards and Deamon on drums. Inspired by artists/bands, such as YUI, AKFG, Supercell, Rivermaya, and Paul Gilbert, the band usually plays progressive-love Japanese songs. Our aim is to have fun!

Understand Moonspeak?

Another band to watch out for Otomonogatari: One Night of Pure Japanese Music is Moonspeak.  

Moonspeak is a punk/post-grunge j-rock cover band formed in October, 2008 that originated in Mandaluyong City, Philippines. Founded after the dissolution of Armada, Adz and Matt formed a band that branches out from influences mostly music from the j-indie scene. Along with original members Eric (PPF All-Stars), Naqs (NEOtaku) and Kirby (X versus 0, AsianChickenFest), the group usually performs underrated j-rock hits and even OPM and western rock hits. They debuted at AniCon 2008 and Cosplay Mania '08 in October of that year.

With a handful of sessionists, the group tried experimenting jams out of their comfort zone. They performed well-known hits from artists such as Shoko Nakagawa, UVERworld and even electropop group Perfume which gave an unforgettable song and dance number in front of international cosplay guests in Cosplay Mania '09 last September 13, 2009.

The current line-up which includes new members Yaz (PPF All-Stars), Arun (Housshea Mama) and Derrick (Free Beer, Rtschrck) debuted on Ozine Fest 2012 last April 14, 2012.

The name Moonspeak derives from an internet jargon that means a language the speaker cannot understand, especially with writing unknown to the speaker, sometimes abbreviated as moon.

Moonspeak's past and present sessionists are Nicky Yazon, Hao Ballesteros, Kat Langomes, Leanne Magbanua, AK Domingo, Shinden Maramba, Jen Silverman and Rai Buenaventura. Associated acts: AsianChickenFest, PPF All-Stars, Housshea Mama, Armada, Rtschrck, NEOtaku, X versus 0, Free Beer.

Smooth and Sexy Slideshow

Soothing, smooth and sexy that's what Slideshow is all about. Slideshow is a band that enjoys playing songs with cool and soothing guitar licks, sexy bass rifts and slides, piano/synth parts that makes you wanna leave the "foreplay" stage, and pornographic drum kicks and strokes. Wow, that was HOT!

Slideshow was conceived when one of Stigma of Disgrace's guitarist, Rigor, decided to make a band that plays something sexy.The band made up of Miji from Asian Chicken Fest for their vocals, Val their keyboardist, Nathan for their bass, Drei for the groups synthesizer, and Mika of Fushizen for their Drums. 

The group is about Jam... It's all about jammin' and making sexy music.

Love the Artificial World with Fushizen

The artificially produced music that is techno, Japanese music will not be complete without this genre. If this is your preference surely Fushizen will deliver.

Started last year, December, a group of individuals, namely Coral422 on the synthesizer, Mika  on drums and Masumi for vocals decided on creating an electronic band. Sadly Masumi left for Japan later on and left the group. They later on found Mark Down as the bassist then Kween for vocals. The group debuted May 12, 2012 on Visual Music Carnival at Amoranto Stadium.

The Group is deeply influenced by groups like Perfume, Nirgilis, Hatsune Miku, Megumi Nakajima, Daft Punk, Yui Horie, Shiho Nanba, Oster Project, Sasakure.UK. Fushizen plays Japanese electronic, trance and dance music.The name Fushizen means Unatural or Artificial in Japanese.

Hungry for More Asian Chicken Fest?

Another addition to Otomonogatari's performace line up is ACF or Asian Chicken Fest. This band mostly plays Japanese Anime / Game inspired songs. This has always been for the band since they always hang out with other bands of the Jmusic community.

Formed in March 2008 by Ericvids (former PPF All Stars / X versus Zero) on bass/vocals and Kirby (former X Versus Zero) on guitars/vocals with drummer Lino (then Ducklings). The band's main objective was to just play happy, pop rock, punkish songs which was very different from their other bands (except Lino which was already from a punk band). This was an alternative from the Progressive rock / jazz band style of PPF All Stars and the semi Jrock style of X versus Zero.

the band's first official gig was March 1 2008 at the Tomasinotaku Nihon Nights 2 at the University of Sto. Tomas.

In June of the same year, Hao (also from PPF All Stars) joined the band as Female vocalist. Ericvids had to leave the band to work and study in Singapore and by September the Position was filled by Momiji (KiIro Neko). Due to unstable work schedule, Lino also had to leave the band. By November of 2008 Deamon of KiIro Neko was placed as drummer. This is now the current line-up of the band.

Event Venue: How to get there...

Our event will be held on 7th Flr. CAP Bldg. Amorsolo St. Makati City. For those who are unfamiliar with the place this post will help you get there.

There are a number of ways to get the the venue by public transpo. The place is at the center of Makati and its easy to get lost in such an urban town. The best route would be through MRT Ayala Station. From then on head to Landmark Mall and find the jeepney terminal, ride the jeep heading Libertad and ask to be dropped off Rufino St. and you can immediately see the building.


If your feeling adventurous we can always walk from MRT Ayala station.  You can always googlemap the information anytime before going. If you ask me,  the nearest drop off point if you wanna walk, would be if you ride a bus that passes by Ayala ave you can drop off PNB tower and walk V.A. Rufino St. until you reach Amorsolo St. You would instantly see the building.  Here is a map of the vicinity so to help you get around.

The SPARKING of Ikuzo Iwa!

Another local Japanese band to watch out this coming Otomonongatari is a J-rock cover band that was created last August 26, 2007 comprised of cosplayers and anime enthusiasts,  Ikuzo Iwa.

Ikuzo Iwa simply means “Let’s Go, ROCK!”. Named by their past guitarist[Jag], the band's music is deeply influence by L’Arc~en~Ciel, High and Mighty Color, Gackt, and many more. Over the years, they have participated in Anime Conventions and local Japanese Music events in the Philippines. Eventhough hey have been through various band line-up changes, they never give up pushing their passion for music while at the same time manage to be funny and down-to-earth.

Ikuzo Iwa enjoys their successes and the good memories they had with past events and singing about what they believe and feel is the truth. In every path that they take they will not be afraid in dealing with hardships and they managed to stay and strive together no matter what awaits them. That makes this band ROCK!

The High and Mighty Colors of Asterysk*

Asterysk* is a Jrock inspired band with members hailing from Pasig, Pasay, Cainta, Bulacan, Laguna and Cavite. Since each member brings its own musical preference to the table, the resulting sound is a unique blend of pop vocal stylings, solid hard rock basslines and progressive rock guitar work.

The name Asterysk* was derived from the glyph that bears a similar name. To make it truly representative of the band, vocalist Jazz Rosin thought of creating a six-armed asterisk, one for each member of the band. Just like the convergence of the symbol's arms to a singular point, each band member contributes his and her own musical influence to produce a unique blend of progressive pop-rock sound that has come to define the band's core genre.
